June 6 was Swedish National Day and Academy of Culinary Arts Cambodia (ACAC) founder, Pierre Tami, was invited to attend the celebrations at a cocktail reception where HE Mrs Maria Sargren, the Ambassador of Sweden in Phnom Penh, presided over the event.

The Swedish Development Agency (Sida) is a major donor and contributor to the establishment of the ACAC.

Over the years, the Academy has had a number of opportunities to host HE Mrs Sargren, as well as Sida’s director and staff, who with much patience and great professional support, have assisted the development of the Academy.

Sweden has been involved in development aid to Cambodia all the way back to 1979 when the Khmer Rouge was ousted. One of the key areas of Swedish support has been education, as it is a prerequisite for sustainable development.
