The family members of Ilya died during the war: the mother died in the explosion of the bridge, and the situation with the father is unknown, those actions happened in Mariupol, a city that was destroyed and under bombardment for almost 3 months. The grandparents lead the child to the volunteers with the documents; afterwards, the grandparents were killed too. The child was hiding for 3 weeks in bombshell, together with the volunteers Ilya went by foot to the town named Berdyansk. The child was transferred to social services in Dnipro. The future caretakers – Maria and her husband (refugees from the Donetsk region, now living in Kyiv) decided to adopt Ilya and were contacted by the social services. The legal procedure of adoption is active at the moment. Ilya got psychological trauma and because of it suffers from short-term memory impairment.
