Nikita and Ilya were participants of Shakhtar Social activities, including the main grassroots football project in Ukraine ‘Come On, Let’s Play!’ in Popasna (Luhansk region) before the war in Ukraine. However, the home of the brothers was bombed, and they managed to survive the explosion, but their mother died in that bombing. The town of Popasna was fully destroyed.

Nikita and Ilya became orphans and are under the care of their aunt and grandma, being relocated to a more secure location. The grandma is trying to adopt both kids and help them. Both kids need medical care, Ilya broke his hand and fingers and was wounded by fragments of the bomb, losing his vision, however the vision is now almost recovered. The older brother already passed 2 surgeries and there should be done to improve his health. The younger brother Nikita was also wounded by the fragments of the bomb and received medical treatment in the hospital. The kids are staying now in the Dnipro region.
