When shells fell around them and air raid sirens blared day and night, Anatolii and Anna Yefimchuk, their sons Ivan and Mykhailo and young daughter Kseniya had to rush down to the air raid shelter; Kseniya in particular was terrified. To save their lives, the family made the long journey from their home in Dobropillya in the Donetsk region to the safety of the Shakthar’s Shelter Center in the Lviv Arena. The family were given food, clothes and toys. They expressed their gratitude to the Shakthar Football Club, which is funding the shelter with donations from their supporters and by playing charity matches. “We always cheer for them. All bad thoughts disappear when we watch them play,” says Anna.
